What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is a common structural element in structures. It is a large flat, horizontal concrete surface usually used as a floor or a roof. Concrete slabs, laid on top of the soil or on support foundations and are used to build the foundation for certain homes.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installations can be complicated when your experience and skills aren't up to the task. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adheres to the strict process of installing concrete slabs.

Safety is the top priority in all our concrete projects. Before we begin any project, we ensure that we're properly outfitted with safety gear. Eye protection, long sleeves and long pants, rubber boots gloves, and gloves form parts of our safety gear. All of these safeguards protect us from concrete splashes that can harm our health overall and well being.

Following the same process as previously, we now follow the steps below:

Step 1: Preparation for the Site

We follow the same process, whether it's a small concrete slab or a larger one. Every project we undertake starts with the preparation of the site. In order to start from scratch we tidy up and get rid of any trash. As part the preparation process, all materials must be at the site. The transportation of materials is planned prior to when actual work begins. This allows us finish the project within the timeframe we have established.

Step 2: Create Concrete Forms using Steel and reinforce Concrete Slabs using Steel

Once the site is cleared and cleared, we'll begin the process of installing concrete forms made with wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid barriers that hold the concrete mix in place. It also forces wet concrete to assume a particular shape or form. Rebar reinforced concrete is available for larger structures. This allows for more durable concrete surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

A concrete truck is used to make the process easier. It is also useful in ensuring concrete materials are properly mixed. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. But in most of our projects the use of a concrete mixer is required.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

When we're done mixing concrete then the concrete slab is poured into the forms. We pour the concrete mix carefully so as to not create air pockets. Air pockets are caused by too much mortar not being put over the aggregate. Concrete is created by spreading the mix uniformly throughout the shape.
